Dairy Council

Sports Nutrition Seminar 2024

The Dairy Council for Northern Ireland is hosting a Sports Nutrition seminar on the 14th November at W5, Odyssey, Belfast.

We are delighted to be joined by Olympic champion, rower Hannah Scott. Hannah and her crewmates won GB’s first ever Olympic gold medal in the Women’s quadruple sculls at this year’s Games in Paris. From her home town of Coleraine and the Bann Rowing Club via Princeton University to the British Rowing Team, Hannah’s career continues to go from strength to strength and we are looking forward to hearing all about it in conversation with Professor Sharon Madigan.

Professor Madigan, who is Science Lead and Head of Performance Nutrition at Sport Ireland Institute, will also chair the seminar.

We will have more practical sports nutrition insights from the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics with Irene Riach, Head of Performance Nutrition at Sport Scotland Institute of Sport who will share her experiences of delivering nutrition support for Team GB.

For the latest sports and exercise nutrition research, Dr Rónán Doherty from Atlantic Technological University and Sport Ireland Institute will look at the relationship between nutrition and sleep, and the implications for athletes and sports people. There will also be an update on the potential impact of REDS (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sports) on athlete health and performance.

Full programme and speaker details coming soon

The seminar will begin at 5:30pm, with refreshments available from 4:45pm, and finish at approximately 7:45pm.

There is no charge for this event. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Bookings should be made no later than Monday 11 November 2024.

Thank you for your booking. We will be in touch shortly.
